Raven Nostefaru

Recruit

Truly a child born of war, Raven Nostefaru has never had an easy life. He was born and raised in a recluse clan of Eloys that were well versed in the combat style of "Shadow Step", a unique form of martial arts that which allows the user to move fluidly, quickly, and undetected, as if he were a shadow. Seeing as how this form is perfect for assassination, the members of the clan are often used as mercenaries and assassins.

His mother and father were skilled Shadow Steppers and were very loving of their child. He spent much of his childhood along with the other children of the village, practicing the art and studying facts about the world of Atreia. Being born during war times, his textbooks often taught him that the Asmodians were vile beings capable of nothing but hatred and evil. However, he had a mind of his own and was not quick to judge, as he saw everyone as equals.

When he came of age (14), he was finally able to become apart of the rest of the clan. Finally able to accept missions from anyone willing to pay enough for the death of another. Finally able to fight alongside his mother and father in combat and assassinations. For a short time, life was very good. Until that fateful day...

After a successful mission, him and his parents were traveling back to the clan's home. As they were on the horizon near their home, they could faintly see and smell what seemed like smoke. Smoke from fires. Astonished, they quickly raced back to their town, only to find that it's completely engulfed in flames. Bodies were strewn across the ground, with deep gashes and holes. Some were beheaded. They were all murdered. It seemed that no one survived, but Raven's father still wanted to see if there was anyone left to save. His love for the clan was almost as great as his love for his family, and he couldn't bear leaving this awful sight without at least attempting to save any poor soul still alive in the middle of this disaster. So, he ordered Raven and his mother to split up and search high and low for survivors. After a long search, Raven decided to head back to the designated meeting place to wait for his mother and father. His father showed up after a while, but his mother never did.

The father decided to search for the mother and to lend her assistance if she needed it. He told Raven to stay put while he did so. An hour passed. Then two, three, four. Raven began to desperately worry and couldn't stay still any longer, so he decided to search for his parents.

He found them...dead. With the same gashes and holes as the other deceased clan members. Raven was absolutely distraught. Shocked. No..words couldn't even describe what he felt at that moment. He slowly exited the village, no knowing where the hell to go or what to do. He felt that he lost his place in the world. He no longer had any reason left to live. And that's when he appeared.

The Asmodian. Raven will never forget would never forget the smirk on his face. What he smelled like. How he stood there with the severed head of one of his fellow clansmen. The deep red blood that dripped, dripped, dripped from the tip of his sword. Raven couldn't move, couldn't think. He fells to his knees. The Asmodian never saw a more pitiful thing in his life, and decided that Raven isn't even worth killing. He walked away as Raven sat there, completely disconnected from the world and frozen with utter fear. The fire that destroyed his entire life continued to blaze on as if it was laughing at all the destruction it caused.

Days passed, the fire eventually died down, and Raven was still in the same spot. Totally unaware of his current surroundings. He still couldn't grasp what happened. He had a happy life. He wanted to believe that everyone was equal and that no one was evil at heart. But all of that changed in that moment. He felt, deep down to the bitter mote of his soul, that Asmodians are truly beings that are capable of nothing but misery.

Eventually, a farmer and his wife passed by Raven. They saw the young boy, now frail from hunger, as still as a statue. And horrible sight caused by the Asmodian. They decided that they couldn't just leave him there and they took him into their care. Reluctant at first, Raven didn't want anything to do with them. But he eventually grew to love them as he lived with them on their farm. He continued to practice the nearly-lost art of Shadow Stepping to ensure its future. Time passed and the years rolled by. Upon the age of 21, he left the home of the farmer and his wife and felt that he had to get revenge for the death of his parents.

Continuing to follow in the footsteps of his parents and clansmen, he accepted jobs of assassinating and mercenary. He eventually came across an individual named Knite Shadowbane, who shared the same ideals as himself. After conversing and discussing certain topics with Knite, Raven decided to follow Knite on his quest to defend Eloys from the treacherous acts of the vile Asmodians. Maybe one day, he can finally find the one Asmodian that destroyed his life and finally exact the revenge he's sought for so long.
